Fall Walk with Sophie Oct 3 2010

2 mile walk this morning from our house across the UVM campus and back. Leaves are turning, seems like almost overnight......they adorn the ground with rich golds and amber splashes of color.  Geese honked overhead, squirrels are busy collecting nuts, and adorable chipmunks skittered across our path. We did our usual collecting of cans, bottles and litter along the way. Temperature was in the 40's, a bit nippy, so I wore gloves and a winter hat. Enjoyed the Robins egg blue sky and the bright sunshine that got sparklier as we walked. Sparklier, is that a real word?  Reflected on my years as a student at UVM majoring in Psychology .... and was surprised when I realized it wont be long (2013) before it will be 30 years since I graduated (1983)....

The UVM grounds are a great place for a walk. The buildings have such interested architectural details and the plantings are interesting. I especially like the landscaping in the area behind the admissions building ......a granite arch and curved path with islands of clump birches. Turning onto Main street from Prospect, there is a glorious view of Lake Champlain and the NY mountains.

We are usually the only dog walking duo on the UVM campus part of our morning walks. Sophie struts like she owns the estate.
